Queensland's Tall Ship PDF Print E-mail

South Passage is a 100 foot long, gaff rigged schooner. She was purpose built in 1993 to give young people aged 14 to 17 a unique experience at sea.  Most of our voyages are with high school groups, though many youth organisations also sail with us.  Our voyages qualify for the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards.

Her home port is Manly near Brisbane and her annual sailing program takes her north to Cairns in winter and south to Wollongong in summer.

On most days during the year South Passage sails with teenagers, but there are opportunities for anyone to sail on her and enjoy the thrill and adventure of sailing on a traditional sailing ship.

You can join us for a public day sail or on cruises for special events such as Riverfire or Australia Day in Brisbane or Boxing Day or New Year’s Eve in Sydney Harbour.

We run five voyages for the general public each year, ranging from three days to eight days, so you can really experience a life at sea in a replica nineteenth century sailing ship.

South Passage is run by a not for profit volunteer organisation and we are always looking for people to work with us. You do not need to be a sailor as we will show you the ropes aboard our unique ship.
