SOUTH PASSAGE DAILY REPORT
CLIENT: Glendale Tech High School
VOYAGE NUMBER:
FROM: Port Stephens        TO:Newcastle
DATE:27th October  2011   TIME: 2030hrs
POSITION: Fame Bay
Summary: We boarded the trainees at 0930hrs and headed out to set sails. The plan was to cruise down Port Stephens before turning and heading out for sea at 1430hours. The wind was blowing from the south east at about 20 knots so a pleasant run towards Broughton Island for the night anchor. We arrived at 1730 hours just in time to do the first knots for the voyage. We found the anchorage was a bit rough with the swells rolling in which made it an uncomfortable night. Next morning after trying to set the trainees ashore, which had to be aborted due to the shore break, the anchor was raised At 0900 hours and sails set to return to port Stephens for the calmer waters with some much welcome shore time for the trainees. The anchor was raised once again at 1500 hours, sails set for a leisurely sail to our anchorage for the night in a pleasant and calm cove and a good meal of sausages and mash
Report from White Watch
On Wednesday the 27th of October we boarded the South Passage sailboat, we first headed towards the harbour. The water was pleasant and not too rough. We learnt all the necessary techniques needed to sail the boat correctly. We were placed into 2 groups, (the white watch and the red watch) and we took it in turns of which group took watch, each watch went for 2 hours. After spending a little time in the harbour to get used to the boat we headed towards sea. The water conditions were horrendous and 95% of the ship ended up spewing over the side of the boat, and then into bed to recover from the seasickness. The 5% that wasn’t vomiting spent their day watching over the water to make sure that we didn’t run into anything, during this time some of our crew members saw a pod of dolphins, that swam right next to the boat. After 2 of us spent 12am – 1am on watch, we were surprisingly happy to wake up to a pleasant day. After we set the sails, we spent the next few hours trying to find a nice beach so that everyone could get off and recover from the previous day. We tried two beaches near by but were unable to get in close enough, we then travelled to Shoal Bay where we spent the afternoon lounging on the beach and relaxing. Once we got back aboard the boat we sailed into a little bay where the water was calmer, and this is where we would spend the night.

Loveeeeeee frommmm Amber and Jonsey !
