South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Saint Stephens College

VOYAGE NUMBER: 20170403

FROM: Manly TO: Manly

DATE: 3 April 2017

POSITION: Manly Boat Harbour

Report by: Blue Watch

As we said good-byes to our loved ones and boarded the boat, we set off into the heart of the sea. The day had no mercy on our SSC newbies. As soon as we motored our way out of the marina, the wind struck us from the side whilst we fastened the sails. It took great strength to haul the ropes and tie them down, but our enthusiasm and instant bonds helped us sail the boat; despite of the waters rising to the brim of the boat. Nevertheless, the support of the crew and knowing we are in good hands motivated us to pull our weight as the ships new crew.

Being in the ship felt like gravity has decide that pulling us left and right would be much more amusing. We recall thinking the compass was broken, but in actual fact we were keeling almost in line with the water. After a long day of hard work, we were well fed by the ship’s cook Dennis. Due to unfortunate events, we made our way back to the marina and are safely docking here tonight, ready for tomorrow’s challenges. Hardus Redelinghuys & Liam Smith
