South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Trinity Anglican School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20220711

FROM: Cairns to Townsville

DATE: 12 July 2022

POSITION: Dunk Is

REPORT BY: Red Watch

The horn sounded starting the sudden scuffle of sailors. Slow and tired after the first day we fell out of bed stumbling over socks and sandals. Our second day had begun.

Once we were up our group made our way to breakfast four by four. Wafts of cinnamon and warm porridge teasing our tastebuds as we stood eagerly in line.

The day moved slow and the ship even slower. We enjoyed the calmness of the sea and the light breeze, but it meant we weren’t going to make our deadlines. Up with sails and to our positions, watching the clock waiting for our turns to end and an opportunity to play some uno or take some pretty photos of the passing dolphins.

Red, blue and white groups passed around the ship rigging, derigging from rope to sail. Before we knew it, orange and purple streaks overtook the sky as the sunset signalled the end of a beautiful day. Making more distance than we ever imagined.
