Reports from the bunks overnight said that it was interesting experience holding onto your mattress while trying to sleep, only to slip across the bunk when we tacked through the night. Red watch had the graveyard night shift and watched a glorious half-moon rise off the waves as Wavealee got to see the phosphorescence lighting up the water.
After some cleaning of the ship in the morning, we took up the ten o’clock morning watch, with combination of sailing and motoring in calm conditions. Nature reared her head and showed us dolphin surfing off the bow wave, blue bottles and flying fish, while the sun poked out through the clouds. Hot meals aplenty today saw scrambled eggs, burgers and a delicious spaghetti bolognaise for dinner, with almost everyone aboard able to enjoy and hold down their meals today.
The wind picked up mid-afternoon, allowing us to turn off the motor for a few hours, and fill the sails to guide us up past Tweed Heads and towards The Spit off the Gold Coast. Full crew was on deck to furl the sails as we motored through the headlands, before dropping anchor off Currigee in the Broadwater.
